Settings > Display > Theme: Dark / Light (NVS mc_ui/light). The colour
tokens are set once before anything is built, so a change restarts the
device. Text on an accent fill is the new ON_ACCENT (it was BG, white
in the light theme); each accent has a deeper hand-picked light variant
that reads on white and takes white text. The map's empty-tile fill and
grid and the areas' outlines follow the theme too.

Density from less chrome instead of smaller rows (ROW_H stays 44):
- titled screens drop the status bar; the title bar (APPBAR_H) holds back,
the title, the screen's actions and the time/battery on a pill; the status
bar returns for Home, the map, typing, the quick panel and the lock
- one radius (RADIUS) for everything tapped: buttons, tabs, choices, chips
- tabs are all segmented at TAB_H in the body (GPS, Clock converted)
- Nodes: chips row + sort + status line become one toolbar row with
Show / Order choices; Messages' All/Favourites is the same choice
- nav map: the target bar only while there is a target; the pin opens one
"Places" popup; back from a map options page restores the map and Map
tools as left, without a jump
- node detail actions at the top of the scroll; Home tiles fill the page
- rowsFit() leaves growing labels to the flex (a screen title cut to one
letter after Messages' filter changed)

ACCENT_DIM (the accent mixed toward black) came out brown on selected
tabs, chips, segments and own bubbles. They take the accent with dark
text now, as primary actions and the quick panel tiles do:
styleSelected() sets the fill, the pressed shade and every label under
it. Own bubbles: dark text, age and delivery mark (green or red can't be
read on amber); the melody editor's selected note is outlined, the
sounding one filled.

Node detail: a card with a compass rose and the hop chain over the info;
the bar keeps Message / Admin / Add, Ping and Navigate, the rest goes to a
"More" group under the info (favourite toggled in place, delete by a second
tap). Nodes: an arrow by each distance. A trail's height profile in Map
tools and a saved trail's popup. Diagnostics > History: battery, noise,
SNR and traffic charts. Clock > Calendar: today, the weekend and alarm days.

An infinite lv_roller measures its whole option text (repeated three
times) on every style change, layout pass and frame. The hand-drawn wheel
draws only the visible rows, with the same look, drag, throw, tap and
wrap-around. Clock first frame 99 -> 54 ms (layout 42 -> 12 ms).

- CPU at 80 MHz with the screen on after 2 s without touch or animation;
a touch restores the full clock before its frame is drawn
- setText(): periodic refreshes no longer redraw unchanged labels
(status bar, Home, lock, Diag, GPS, compass, clock, map, nav, nearby)
- map markers kept across the 3 s rebuild when unchanged
- app connected: the loop blocks until a BLE frame arrives
(serialFrameArrived / hasPendingFrames) instead of polling every 2 ms
- PSRAM: boot frame sprite and the HTTP response buffer released

Every toggle / stepper wrote the prefs file straight away (0.1-0.6 s on the
ESP32's SPIFFS), which stuttered the UI and wore the flash. prefsSave() now
only marks them dirty; they're written once when the screen is left, when the
display goes off, or after 60 s at the latest -- the L1's approach. Shutdown
and the pre-restart OTA save still write immediately.

group() / settingRow / listRow / actionRow / choiceRow / groupNote: one card
per section, hairlines between rows, hints that wrap. Dropdowns replaced by
a centred picker list. Settings regrouped (Device, Connections, Map & data,
System); Display & power split into Display, Power and Time on L2 only
(the shared schema is unchanged), Keyboard and About get their own pages.
Radio and Repeater share one LoRa parameter block.

Info cards drop the default 8 px row gap so text sits centred between
hairlines. The alarm Repeat list is compacted to fit above the dropdown.
creditText() keeps "(c) Name" and licence names like CC-BY-SA together
in About and the map credits toast.

Shared infoCard/infoRow/infoNote helpers: muted label left, value right,
hairlines between rows, empty rows hidden. Diagnostics grouped into
sections with a received/sent packet table; GPS gets a position card and
constellation pills; About, OTA, Storage and map popups use the same
cards. Text no longer breaks after '.', clock alarm hint unclipped.
Sim-only sim_open() hook for jumping to a screen.

- Anim.h: screens emerge from the middle (background cover fades, content
drifts 6 px), Home pages slide, popups and toasts rise and fade in
- Theme.h: accent rules (fill = primary action, dim fill = selected, text =
names/counts/modes), theme layer over the default theme, radius tokens,
accent colour picker (Settings > Display & power > LOOK, NVS mc_ui)
- Splash with the Solo and upstream versions
- Status icons in equal cells, L1-style relay marks, path window with a hop
diagram, tile download popup fits the screen (WiFi only in Settings)
- Perf: uncompressed fonts, two 120-line PSRAM buffers (~48 -> ~33 ms per
transition frame); UI_PERF_TEST harness

- genericBuzzer I2S path (BUZZER_I2S): an audio task synthesises the notes
with eased edges and keeps the DMA queue fed with silence between sounds;
ES8311 setup; amp powered through the board only around sounds
- ui-core/SoundControl.h (mode, volume, built-in sounds, melody model),
SoundNotifier moved to the Core, chanctl::melody, schema Sound page
- L2: notifications, alarm / timer ring, locator sounds, Settings > Sound,
melody editor with the playing note lit, per-chat sound, mute icon
- noteIndex() on every buzzer backend; scrolling popups past screen height
