Adopts hardware Channel Activity Detection (wired into
RadioLibWrapper::isChannelActive() alongside our RSSI-threshold check
and RX duty-cycle power-save), MCU temperature telemetry, LR2021
standby workaround, DISPLAY_SCALE/FLIP overrides, NRF52Board
shutdownPeripherals() refactor, and misc upstream fixes.
Declines upstream's ConfigSerializer-based NodePrefs rewrite,
MultiSerialInterface/interface_manager, and UIColor palette system —
each would have broken large parts of the Solo-specific feature set
(NodePrefs fields, per-variant single serial_interface, enum-based
DisplayDriver::Color). Flagged as candidate follow-up migrations, not
permanent no's.
Also fixes several pre-existing bugs surfaced while chasing silent
merge breaks (stale newMsg() override signature in ui-tiny/ui-orig,
dead UIEventType::newContactMessage case, missing ContactsIterator
init), bumps FIRMWARE_VERSION/MESHCORE_VERSION to 1.17, and fixes a
missing <cstdlib> include that broke the native ConfigSerializer unit
tests.
Verified via 13+ pio run builds across ESP32/nRF52, all 3 companion UI
variants, and 7 display drivers, plus the full native unit test suite
(33/33 passing).

Switch ESP32-S3 KISS modem environments to HWCDC and move outbound KISS writes to a non-blocking queued frame path so loop() and TX completion keep progressing when the host reads slowly. Add native backpressure regression tests and correct the native_kiss_modem test filter so this suite runs directly with pio test.
hasSeen() was simultaneously a predicate and a mutator — it inserted the
packet hash on every miss, making five call sites that only wanted to mark
a packet as sent call it with the return value discarded.
Split into:
- wasSeen() — pure predicate, no side effects
- markSeen() — explicit insert
All query sites now call markSeen() immediately after wasSeen() returns
false, preserving identical runtime behaviour. The five mark-only send
sites (sendFlood, sendDirect, sendZeroHop x2) now call markSeen directly.
Also fixes three bridge sites (BridgeBase, ESPNowBridge, RS232Bridge)
that had the same query+implicit-insert pattern.
Tests: add test/test_mesh_tables/ covering wasSeen purity, markSeen,
dup stats, and clear. Update SHA256 mock to produce deterministic output
(previously finalize() was a no-op). Add Packet.cpp to native build filter.
