Channel options > Save keeps a busy channel's new messages off the flash, so
it leaves the room to the others; Keep messages stays the master switch.
Off now only stops the saving, so a value stepped past costs nothing and the
wait for the delete comes at a start. Delete history stays immediate.

Past the oldest message in a conversation, Up reads the next 12 from the log.
Pages, not a longer list: the messages screen measures its whole list every
frame. Also from the full-screen view, and for a conversation the ring has lost.
Settings > Messages > Delete after hides older messages at once and frees the
flash a segment at a time, never with the clock unset or behind the log; Delete
history clears the log and the rings. A batch is also written after 12 new
messages, as a room's backlog could leave the ring unsaved.

Settings > Messages > Keep messages (Off, 500, 1000, 2500 in all; off by
default; HIST_FLASH, ui-core/HistoryLog.h). Two append-only logs on the QSPI
flash, channels and DMs, restored into the RAM rings at the start. A batch is
written a minute after the first unsaved change and at shutdown, as the L1's
power switch gives no warning. Each segment has a directory of its own: a
LittleFS 1.x commit erases one of a directory's two fixed blocks every time.
E-ink panels keep their last frame, so a shutdown now leaves "Powered off" on
it and puts the controller into deep sleep.

- Discover: a reply after its try timed out, was stopped or was overtaken
went on to the normal handling and became the contact's route (and sent
a path back); the last tags sent are kept and a late reply is dropped.
Leaving Route on the L2 stops a discovery as it stops a trace.
- Discover: a route whose reply came back another way offers that way too
(L2 There / Back, L1 a Back row), turned round into a route there, so a
trace checks it; the Discover button no longer sits on its group.
- Screenshots: numbered one past the highest (one pass over the folder,
not a stat per number), so one taken after a delete is still the newest.
- Gallery: the newest 300 kept whatever order the folder lists them in;
BMP rows read in the file's order and several at a time; the thumbnail
buffer sized to the page; the folder read once per visit; a failed
open frees or restores the picture.
- NTP: the slot the router's server goes in emptied before joining, so a
cached address isn't taken for it; "Clock set from the network" judged
against the clock a tick before (SNTP has set the system time already).
- Sim: sim_scroll up stops at the top.

MyMesh::sendPathDiscovery() shares the request with the app's
CMD_SEND_PATH_DISCOVERY_REQ and hands the reply (the way there and back)
to the UI; PathEditor keeps up to 4 distinct routes with how often each
came. L2: Find the route under Route; L1: Discover row in Path / trace.
Docs: Discover, message routes on the map, Ask status and discovery.

PacketFlow keeps them (each with up to 3 ways it came, contacts by key
prefix) once a frontend asks, in PSRAM; the map frames a replay that's off
screen. Back on the map closes a popup first.

Same gap as the screens had: the bot reply, a typed message's {temp} and
the placeholder lists read only the sensors, so a board without one (the
L1) answered !temp with n/a while its telemetry carried a temperature.
The fallback moves to LocalSensors.h, shared by the screens, expandMsg()
and sensorPlaceholders(); the latter now takes the chip's temperature.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The telemetry reply adds the MCU temperature, the screens read only the
sensors: on a board without a temperature sensor (the L1) the app showed
a temperature and the clock field '--'. The clock, Status and the L2's
Home now fall back to the chip's, like the reply. The bot's !temp and
{temp} still read only the sensors.

A flow's point is where its contact is now, its end here where you are now
(GPS, else the position set in Privacy): shared by the L2 map and the
OLED / e-ink Nodes map.

- Every packet heard is drawn, by kind in fixed colours: advert, DM,
channel, request, ack, other, sent. One that can't be placed on the map
is a ring at your own position.
- A legend pill at the top counts each kind over the last minute.
- On a map without node markers, a flow brings its own nodes (a dot and
the name), fading with it.
- Copies of one packet (the same packet hash) share one fade, so a path
goes out as a whole, not segment by segment.
- 32 flows kept on ESP32 (12 on nRF).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Every packet heard runs from its origin through the repeaters with a
position to this device; a packet sent is a ring. ui-core/PacketFlow.h
resolves them (UiCore::flow, MyMesh logRx/logTx -> Listener). ui-lvgl
draws them on the map's marker layer and repaints only their area while
they move; ui-new draws the last minute on the Nodes map ("Flow" in its
options). Setting: Map options > On the map > Packet flow, CLI map.flow.
Off by default. Sim-checked only.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Core: PathEditor results are links (node k hearing k-1 and back); toNode()
off traces only the repeaters (a companion answers only with repeat on);
probe() traces to each repeater in turn after no reply; failures carry a
reason; an empty list saves "direct". PingEngine takes over a slot left past
its timeout. A kept route: the dropped heard path isn't announced to the app
nor bumps lastmod; an app update keeps the flag only if it leaves the route.
Marker boxes sized for every dot and name (overflow).
ui-lvgl Route: one line per node with out / back dB coloured by quality, tap
a hop to move / remove, tap the node to include it, Keep in the header, Find
where beside a no-reply status. ui-new Path: To node / Find break rows,
result alerts, cursor kept on its action.
Channels: ui-new re-sorts the list on entering it, cursor on the same channel.
Docs: Path and trace, Channel order. Sim hooks: open route, add channel,
open messages.
Checked in the browser sim (L2 + ui-new peer + repeater); not on hardware.

Shared chanctl::order() builds the channel list for ui-new and the L2:
favourites first, then by ch_sort. New ch_sort pref at the end of NodePrefs,
Settings > Contacts row and contacts.channel.order CLI key.

Core: PathEditor (UiCore::route) loads, edits, traces and saves the route to
a contact; MyMesh::sendTrace over an explicit route with per-hop SNRs,
setContactPath / setContactPinned. A route can be kept
(CONTACT_FLAG_ROUTE_PINNED, ContactInfo::flags bit 4): a path heard from the
node doesn't replace it and the last DM resend doesn't drop it.
ui-lvgl: Route screen (node detail), repeater picker by distance, picking
hops by tapping the nodes map (numbered badges, line, Undo / Done). The
map's markers are one drawn layer with hit-testing and name decluttering
instead of three objects per node.
ui-new: Path / trace view in the Nodes action menu; Add reuses the list
filtered to repeaters.
First cut: built for L2 LVGL, L1 OLED and L1 e-ink, tried on L2 only.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- L2 vector packs: a damaged count can't wrap the index size, and an
entry pointing past the file is refused.
- L2 map share-target list: sized for 40 long channel names and 16
favourites (it could overflow), off the stack.
- L2 SD history: a file with an unreadable header is set aside as .bad
instead of written over; Delete message history takes those too.
- Contact lookups by key or hash start after the reserved anon slots (an
empty one matched a 00 hop hash with a blank name); MessagesScreen uses
contactctl::hopName().
- Nearby keeps its selection by public key: deleting a contact shifts
the table.
- ui-new Live Share target cycle holds every channel and favourite.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Joining #topic drops surrounding spaces and keeps the case, as
meshcore-open's derivePskFromHashtag() does.
- /prefs written by a newer build (bigger NodePrefs, same version): the
extra bytes are read through the CRC and skipped instead of resetting
every setting.
- A channel post from someone named "Me" is filed as "\"Me\": ...", so
the views don't take it for our own.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- UITaskBase holds what both UIs' shutdown() and low-battery check share:
the saves before the goodbye sound, the power-down (GPS through its
provider) and the battery EMA and threshold.
- L2 SD archive: a channel's file is keyed by its secret only, so renaming
keeps the history; old files are renamed once at boot.
- L2 fetch: abandoning a request and the task finishing it are one critical
section (it could stay DONE for good); TileCache gets the read-side barrier.
- Text from a repeater or sensor no longer rings on the device (nothing to
open); a settings switch reads any non-zero value as on; the message
toast never cuts a letter in half; ui-new's GPS helpers ask UiCore.

- set af / dutycycle / rxdelay reject nan.
- A TX power change from the app or CLI re-baselines APC.
- CMD_SET_RADIO_PARAMS stores repeat as 0/1.
- The alarm reschedules itself when the time zone changes.
- A late ACK for an earlier DM attempt marks it delivered.
- A new auto-advert interval counts from the last advert.
- Both UIs take the TX power range from radioctl, up to MAX_LORA_TX_POWER
(30 dBm on the GAT562 30S).
- The ping timeout comes from the airtime; 3-byte path hash mode pings with
4-byte trace hashes, and trace flags are right for width 4.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Removing a scope moves the channels that used it to the default, not to
unscoped.
- The room bot ignores posts older than 5 minutes: the backlog a room
replays after login no longer gets answers.
- Adverts take the default scope from the scope list, as messages do; the
legacy fields always mirror it, and CMD_SET_DEFAULT_FLOOD_SCOPE with a
full list answers TABLE_FULL.
- The last DM resend drops the direct path and floods.
- /trail and /waypoints are written through a temp file.
- An admin login timeout keeps the saved password.
- History records read from the SD card are sanitised.

A pure move: each block now sits in its own header, included where its
code was, so the order of definitions is unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A page break counted a space before every key, printing put none before
the first, so the skipped pages broke one key early and the next page
began with the previous page's last key.

Review follow-up:
- The rows exist only where the build asks for them: Text size with
EINK_FONT_SCALE, Icon size with STATUS_ICON_SCALE. The stock 2.13", the
portrait builds and the L2 don't get them -- their screens are laid out
for one cell size. The text override also applies in landscape only.
- Stored in NodePrefs (ui_text_scale, ui_icon_scale) instead of a
/ui_scale file, as rows in the schema's Display section: the usual row,
save path and factory reset, and console keys display.text.size /
display.icon.size. The hand-written Settings rows and the load/save code
are gone; UITask::applyUiScale() applies the prefs at boot and on change
(applyDisplayPrefs). On opt-in builds ui_text_scale starts at the
build's EINK_FONT_SCALE (DataStore sanitize), so the row shows the scale
in use.
- EINK_FONT_SCALE, when set, now scales whichever landscape font the build
picks (the 6x9, or the EINK_LARGE_FONT one); unset, it is stock as before.
- setUiScale() skips the re-layout and full redraw when nothing changed.

Settings > Privacy > Precision: Exact / ~100 m / ~500 m / ~1 km, beside
"Position in adverts", which stays the on/off. With the position shared,
it is snapped to a fixed grid (0.0009 / 0.0045 / 0.009 degrees) rather
than jittered, so repeated adverts from one spot send the same value and
can't be averaged back to the exact fix.
A schema row (NodePrefs::advert_loc_prec), so both UIs show it, factory
reset clears it and the console has it as advert.loc.precision.
Every self-advert -- manual, flood, auto, the phone app's and contact
export -- now goes through MyMesh::createOwnAdvert(), so the precision
applies everywhere.

- Nodes: telemetry permissions per contact, reset path, share nearby
(L1 options menu; L2 node card with "Can ask for" switches)
- Settings > Privacy: fixed position (typed in, from a waypoint, cleared)
and the Bluetooth PIN; Settings > System: factory reset, asked twice
- Companion CLI (CMD_RUN_CLI_COMMAND 66 / RESP_CODE_CLI_REPLY 29, as
upstream; FIRMWARE_VER_CODE 14): upstream's command names plus a key for
every schema setting (get / set / keys)
- Screenshots move to 0x7E; tools/screenshot.py falls back to 66 / 29
- Your contact as a QR code (meshcore://contact/add): Status > System on
ui-new, Settings > About on the L2; Nayuki's qrcodegen made header-only
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Settings schema gains Privacy (position in adverts, who can ask for
status / location / sensors), Adding contacts (all or by type, max
hops, replace oldest) and Advanced radio (path hash size, double ACK,
listen before talk, interference threshold, RX boost, RX delay,
airtime factor); both UIs build their rows from it
- Auto-advert carries position only when Position in adverts is on
- ui-new accordion holds 16 sections and 128 rows
- docs: settings, tools, feature matrix
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
ui-new: Status › System, Enter shows it full screen. L2: Settings › About.
One precomputed 25 x 25 matrix (ui-core/SiteQr.h) for both, so no QR
library; the URL in upper case keeps it at version 2.

Hashtag channel names already start with '#'; the tiles added another
("##test"). chanctl::bareName() is now the one place that strips it.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Both UIs: a channel, DM or room with unread messages opens on the oldest of
them (MessageHistory::firstUnreadChannel / firstUnreadDm, own messages not
counted), a "New" line above it, so it reads down to the newest. Nothing
unread: the newest, as before.
L1: the first unread is selected and scrolled up top with the line in view;
the channel's unread count now counts down as you read towards the newest.
L2: the page holding it, scrolled to the line; an incoming message scrolls
down only when the list is already at its end. Sim hooks: sim_unread (L1),
sim_open("unread") (L2).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- A pending DM shows a dot per send, as on the L1. The thread is read from
the SD archive, which a resend never updated: it does now, and the
thread's signature and patch state count the attempt.
- Nearby redraws when a node goes live, changes type or the units change;
the scan popup when a name or the remote SNR arrives.
- The user LED is active high: it was lit all the time and went dark
while transmitting.
- Sim hooks "dm" and "send" for testing a DM thread.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Display > Message alert: Normal keeps the sliding banner; Compact shows an
envelope with the unread count beside the battery (in the header line where
there's no status row), blinking for 2 s; Off shows nothing. The blink only
ever brings the next frame earlier, so it no longer holds back the UI's
animations while it runs.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The limit is what the send leaves of MAX_TEXT_LEN: a channel post carries
"<node name>: ", a direct message resent more than three times keeps two
bytes spare, and placeholders count as they expand (msgtext::limit/sentLen).
Bytes, not characters. The path and packet header sit outside the payload;
static_asserts keep a full message within the radio frame on the longest path.
From 40 bytes left the count shows: on the L2 as a tag on the field's top
edge, on OLED/e-ink at the right of the preview's last line with the text
wrapped short of it. Input stops at the limit; a send still over (a
placeholder grew) is held. Sim hooks to open a compose with text.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
/prefs holds a header (magic, format version, size, CRC-32), the node's
position and NodePrefs as it is in memory, in place of /new_prefs' two
hand-kept field lists and 0xC0DE00xx schema bumps. A new field goes at the
end of the struct; moving one bumps PREFS_VERSION. sanitize() keeps every
value in range.
The first boot after an update from before 2.0 imports only the first
block of the old file, laid out the same in upstream MeshCore and Solo
(name, position, radio, BLE PIN, scope), then deletes it; everything else
starts from the defaults. Contacts, channels, scopes, waypoints and trails
are untouched.
Gone: the page-order and GPS-interval migrations, the unused
trail_interval_idx / trail_units_idx / repeat_extra_scopes; fav_sort_off
and msg_wake_screen_off become fav_sort and msg_wake (on by default).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The history of the noise floor, battery, traffic and SNR, a trail's height
profile (with a sampler for trails read point by point off the card) and a
month's calendar, moved out of ui-new so ui-lvgl can draw the same.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Each point keeps the GPS altitude in what was padding, so a point stays
16 bytes. The save format goes to version 2; version 1 files still load,
with the altitude unknown. GPX export writes <ele>.

- ui-core: Diagnostics::systemLines, NearbyModel::typeShort,
rptctl::currentPresetName, RoomSessions::pendingKey, settings::isSwitch,
UiCore::reconcileDMUnread.
- ui-new: the retired Recent page, fmtAlt, the battMvToPercent wrapper,
setFavouriteChannelSlot, AccordionList onHeader/visibleCount, drawBoxedIcon
and seven unused icons; info::row folded into info::valueRow.
- ui-lvgl: onOpenNav, TileDownloader::withTrails; the trail header size is
one constant (TRAIL_HDR) for live and saved trails.
- Home quick panels save prefs only when a value changed.
- Comments brought in line with the code (status bar reserve, settings rows,
page order, SH1106 frame skip, UiCore header).

The Home clock page draws HH:MM in the boot splash's slanted digits, with a
seconds bar, a centred date and the clock fields as columns. The lock screen
keeps the status bar, puts the big clock under it and shows unread messages
in a pill; the unlock hint appears for a few seconds after a key press on the
lit screen (not the waking one). Settings > Display > Lock clock adds a
compact look: a small clock with the date beside it and the clock fields as
rows (NodePrefs lock_compact, schema 0xC0DE0033). 12-hour time sets AM / PM
beside the digits.

- Battery curve: NodePrefs batt_curve_mv[11] (voltage at 0..100 %, all
zeros = built-in LiPo curve, sentinel 0xC0DE0032). ui-core/Battery.h
uses it for every percentage. L1: Settings > System > Batt curve list
(Left/Right 10 mV, Reset); L2: Settings > Power > Battery curve chart
with draggable points and a line at the cell's voltage.
- L2: the Nodes map is the full navigation map plus the nodes, Back
returns to Nodes; the favourite button is lit while it is one; pinning
to the Home dial uses a thumbtack (fonts regenerated); minimap dots
follow the accent; arranging tiles shows where they land while dragging;
emoji row in Diagnostics > Font.
- Sim hooks: sim_open nodesmap / accent@N / homeedit / battcurve.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Icon pages become quick panels: two or three rows (Settings, Messages,
Bluetooth, Advert, Tools, Power) inset from the edges, the last one
opening the full screen. Brightness and auto-advert are edited in place
(Enter, Left/Right, Enter/Back saves once).
- Tools panel shows the two tools used last with their live state.
- Map page: preview on the left, GPS / trail / live / target on the right.
- Favourites as soft cards; Status tile with a battery spark line.
- Status bar without boxes or blinking; BT only when connected, GPS
search glyph without a fix.
- Redrawn mini icons (advert waves, cog, wrench, messages); big hovering
icons removed. Tools list is text only.
