453dc5e570 feat(admin): typed Radio/Routing field editors; pre-release audit fixes
Tools > Admin: split the Radio tab's single "f,bw,sf,cr" comma-string
field (free-text keyboard) into 4 independent, type-appropriate rows --
Frequency (same digit-cursor DigitEditor Settings/Repeater use locally),
Bandwidth/Spreading factor/Coding rate (discrete-set LEFT/RIGHT stepping),
plus TX power and the 3 Routing numeric fields as number steppers and
Repeat as an ON/OFF toggle. Edits happen locally (zero mesh traffic per
keystroke); only Enter sends one combined `set`, Cancel sends nothing.

Full pre-release audit of all 16 commits since v1.22 (5 parallel focus
areas: display/font, keyboard/messages, Nodes/Admin, Bot/channels,
UITask+NodePrefs schema) turned up and fixed:

- Admin: fetched FK_NUMBER values weren't clamped to the field's range,
  so a value already out-of-range could get stuck unreachable; fixed
  commit-time float format noise (%.6f -> %.3f); Cancel/failed-login
  always returned to the Nodes picker even when Admin was opened
  directly from a node's Hold-Enter action -- now returns to wherever
  it was actually opened from (AdminScreen::_from_picker).
- Keyboard: one-shot Shift was consumed after the *first* T9 multi-tap,
  so cycling to the 2nd/3rd candidate always came out lowercase --
  fixed by caching the cycle's caps state (t9_caps).
- Messages: history is numbered newest-first, so a message arriving
  while scrolled up to an older one silently relabeled the view onto a
  different message -- selection now shifts with the insert.
- Channels: onChannelRemoved() didn't clear ch_notif_override/
  ch_notif_muted/ch_fav_bitmask despite its own contract comment
  requiring it (now far more reachable via the on-device Delete);
  an all-zero hex secret silently self-deleted the channel it was
  just saved into (collides with the empty-slot sentinel) -- rejected.
- Room login: isRoomLoggedIn() indexed the login-tracking ring
  directly instead of via its head offset, silently wrong once the
  ring wraps (8+ rooms/session) -- the new on-device Logout depends
  on this being right.
- Font/display: removed the now fully-inert Settings > Display > Font
  toggle and the dead LemonFont.h (retired by the earlier misc-fixed
  font unification, zero remaining includes); fixed a copy-pasted
  "5x7" comment (font is 6x9), two meaningless dead ternaries, and an
  OLED/e-ink inconsistency in the undefined-glyph fallback box offset.
- AdminField's `kind`/bounds fields no longer rely on default member
  initializers inside aggregate-init: this toolchain's actual nRF52
  build (unlike env:native) has no explicit -std= override, so it
  predates C++14's aggregate-with-default-member-initializer rule.
  Given an explicit constructor instead -- portable regardless of
  standard, all existing field-table literals unchanged.

Docs updated to match: tools_screen.md (Diagnostics as a 3-tab
carousel, was documented as one flat screen), message_screen.md
(chat bubbles, newest-at-bottom, cursor mode, secret validation),
settings_screen.md (dropped the dead Font row), solo_ui_framework.md
(header menu_hint signatures, icon priority-drop, KeyboardWidget's
T9/alphabets/cursor-mode). release-notes.md gains the v1.23 section
covering all of the above plus the other 15 commits since v1.22.

Build-verified on WioTrackerL1_companion_solo_dual.

56aaff1f76 refactor(admin): make Admin remote-only, move device settings to Settings
A device administering itself via the Admin tool read as awkward, so the
local mode is gone and its options relocated to Settings.

- AdminScreen is remote-only: drop the CHOOSER phase, _local_mode, the
  LocalField/LocalKind model and activateLocalField/commitLocalField.
  Phases collapse to LOGIN/COMMAND/REPLY, entered only via startFor().
- Tools > Admin opens straight to the Nodes picker (ACT_ADMIN ->
  pickAdminTarget()). Backing out of a command screen returns to that
  picker; the picker's Cancel returns to Tools. gotoAdminScreen() removed.
- Settings > System gains Name (keyboard-edited node_name) and Reboot
  (action row, placed last so it isn't the default cursor). Radio + TX
  power were already in Settings; Send advert is the home ADVERT page.

Docs: tools_screen.md Admin section rewritten remote-only; settings_screen.md
System table gains Name + Reboot.

9bfccf4cf4 feat(admin): local-device mode + reuse Nodes screen for target picking
Tools > Admin now opens on a This-device / Remote-node chooser. "This
device" is a login-free 2-tab carousel (System: Name/Radio/TX power/
Lat/Lon, Actions: Send advert/Reboot) mapped onto NodePrefs/sensors and
reusing Settings' own apply chains -- no CommonCLI port. "Remote node..."
opens Tools > Nodes in a pick-mode (borrow-another-screen's-list idiom),
and Nodes gains an "Admin" Hold-Enter action; both converge on the single
canonical UITask::openAdminFor() -> AdminScreen::startFor().

Also:
- KeyboardWidget: opt-in PlaceholderRefreshFn hook for contextual {}-key
  CLI command-name completion (word-replacing); default behaviour and all
  other keyboard uses unchanged.
- TabBar: ellipsize() re-measures the real "text..." candidate per step
  (+ width clamp) so dots can't spill into a neighbour/reserved icon.
- ChannelsView: form rows truncate instead of wrapping.
- Reboot moved off the default-selected Actions row (fires with no confirm).

f399298fa6 feat(ui): on-device channel management, remote admin tool, per-language keyboards
Messages:
- Add/edit/delete channels on-device (new ChannelsView, owned by the renamed
  MessagesScreen — was QuickMsgScreen, whose name no longer matched its scope).
  Channel secret entry supports a typed passphrase (SHA-256'd, same primitive
  the library already uses for the routing hash) or a raw 32-hex-char key.
- MyMesh::setChannelLocal() factors out the setChannel/saveChannels/
  onChannelRemoved sequence previously duplicated across the two
  CMD_SET_CHANNEL branches, shared now by the BLE and on-device paths.

Tools > Admin (new):
- Log into a repeater/room server's admin account and send CLI commands,
  the on-device equivalent of the app's repeater-admin feature.
- Commands are organised into category tabs (System/Radio/Routing/Actions)
  with common get/set fields (name, radio profile, tx power, repeat, advert
  intervals, ...) plus a free-text "Custom command..." fallback for anything
  else. A field row fetches the current value, opens it pre-filled for
  editing, and sends the change — falling back to a blank editor if the
  fetch fails or times out.
- The admin password persists and self-heals exactly like room logins in
  Messages: saved on a confirmed admin-level login, forgotten on a failed
  one, left alone if merely under-privileged.
- New MyMesh::sendAdminCommand()/AbstractUITask::onAdminReply() plumbing so
  a reply reaches the UI without touching the existing BLE/app CLI-terminal
  path (queueMessage's should_display gate is untouched).

Shared TabBar.h extracted from NearbyScreen/BotScreen's independently
duplicated tab-carousel rendering (now a third consumer via Admin) — also
fixes neighbouring tabs vanishing outright when they didn't fully fit;
they now truncate with an ellipsis instead.

Keyboard: the combined "Ext.Latin" alphabet split into 8 separate,
linguistically complete per-language keyboards (Polish, Czech, Slovak,
German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Nordic), and fixed an OLED-only bug
where tall accented glyphs overlapped the keyboard's separator line
(SH1106's Lemon-font ascent constant was 2-3px short for them).

cf3c2c0353 fix(ui): revert corner-anchored context menus, centre unread badge, add room logout
- Context menus (PopupMenu, Nearby/QuickMsg call sites) go back to centring on
  screen; the header's discoverable-menu glyph stays, but dropping the popup
  out of its corner looked bad on some screens.
- Unread pill badge digit wasn't centred: Adafruit_GFX's classic built-in font
  (SH1106/SSD1306) always pads a measured string by one trailing advance
  column regardless of the glyph drawn, so centring on the raw width left 1px
  more slack on the right than the left. New DisplayDriver::
  textWidthTrailingGap() (0 by default) corrects for it on those two backends.
- On-device room Logout: mirrors the app's CMD_LOGOUT (drops keep-alive
  tracking, forgets the saved password) so a room can be deliberately signed
  out of from the Room options menu, not just re-logged-in.

Not build-verified — no PlatformIO toolchain available this session.

a1ee67ae94 feat(ui): discoverable context-menu hint — header glyph, highlight, corner dropdown
Hold-Enter context menus were invisible. Add a menu affordance to every screen
that has one:

- A small ≡ glyph in the header's top-right, via new DisplayDriver::
  drawContextMenuHint() and an optional menu_hint arg on drawCenteredHeader() /
  drawInvertedHeader() (reserves the corner so the title never runs under it).
- The glyph highlights (corner cell filled, bars knocked out) while the menu is
  open, tying the hint to the popup it spawned — driven by a menu_open flag the
  screens pass from their live popup state.
- The context menu now drops out of that corner: PopupMenu gains an opt-in
  top-right anchor (begin(..., anchor_top_right)); it right-aligns under the
  header instead of centring, so the menu reads as emerging from the ≡. Default
  stays centred, so non-context popups (Tools/Settings/etc.) are untouched.

Enabled on Nodes (list/scan/detail) and Messages (mode select, contact/room and
channel pickers, DM and channel history).

Both solo envs build green.

97493b490e feat(nodes): on-device add/delete/favourite + circular filter tabs, rename to "Nodes"
Turn Nearby Nodes into the single node hub and make its navigation legible.

Node management (no phone app needed):
- MyMesh gains addDiscoveredContact() and deleteContactByKey(); CMD_REMOVE_CONTACT
  now reuses deleteContactByKey() (one delete path: contact + blob + room password
  + UI cleanup + lazy write).
- Action menu (Hold Enter) gains Add contact (a new scanned node), Favourite /
  Unfavourite (pin to the first free dial slot), and Delete contact (confirm first,
  defaults to Cancel). Actions are offered contextually per row.
- A pinned contact shows a star in the list row, next to any live-share diamond.

Absorb passively-heard adverts: refreshStored() folds getRecentlyHeard() nodes that
aren't already listed as name+age rows (All filter only — AdvertPath has no type),
so "recently heard" no longer needs its own page.

Legible filter navigation: the filter (LEFT/RIGHT) is now a visible tab strip — the
active filter is a centred inverted pill, neighbours fan out and wrap around
(circular, first<->last). Only whole tabs are drawn so labels never wrap a line.

Rename Tools > "Nearby Nodes" to "Nodes".

Both solo envs build green.

cc88e89a64 refactor(companion): extract drawRowSelection() for the canonical list-row bar
Every drawList/AccordionList row opened with the same hand-written
display.drawSelectionRow(0, y-1, width-reserve, lineStep-1, sel) line —
14 copies of the same geometry and magic offsets. Add a drawRowSelection(d,
y, sel, reserve) helper in icons.h next to drawList and route the canonical
sites through it (Bot/LiveShare/Locator/Repeater/Settings/Tools/Nearby/
QuickMsg/Waypoints).

Rows that intentionally differ (full-width DashboardConfig/QuickMsg, the
keyboard/ringtone grids) keep their explicit drawSelectionRow() call — the
helper is opt-in rather than baked into drawList, so legitimate variants
aren't forced into one geometry. Framework doc updated to match.

eedd47d1e1 refactor(companion): hoist screen entry into virtual UIScreen::onShow()
Replace the ad-hoc enter()/markClean() entry methods (which lived outside
the UIScreen interface and were invoked via casts from each gotoX) with a
virtual onShow() lifecycle hook called centrally by setCurrScreen().

This removes the "forgot to call enter() in a new navigator" footgun and
the unchecked cast smell: 12 navigators collapse to one-line
setCurrScreen(x) calls, and override enforces signature match. Two entries
that carry a parameter/variant keep an explicit typed call after
setCurrScreen(): RingtoneEditor::selectSlot(slot) and TrailScreen::showMapView().

Behaviour-preserving: only screens that previously had enter() get an
onShow() override; Splash/Home/QuickMsg/Diag keep no reset as before.

089048a036 refactor(ui): align screens to the documented UI conventions
Audit pass against docs/design/solo_ui_framework.md, converging deviations:

- prev/next: replace hand-rolled (c == KEY_LEFT || c == KEY_PREV) with
  keyIsPrev()/keyIsNext() in QuickMsgScreen, RingtoneEditor, TrailScreen,
  FullscreenMsgView. Two were real rotary-encoder gaps, not just style:
  NearbyScreen's filter and WaypointsView's hemisphere toggle used raw
  KEY_LEFT/RIGHT with no encoder twin, so the encoder couldn't drive them.
- NearbyScreen's list right column used a manual setCursor(width -
  getTextWidth(...)) instead of the existing drawTextRightAlign() helper
  (which also UTF-8-translates) — now uses it, like Diagnostics/Repeater.
- RepeaterScreen hand-rolled the whole drawList skeleton (scroll clamp +
  reserve + row loop + indicator); collapsed onto drawList().

No D-pad behaviour change; more uniform encoder support. Net -19 lines.

fe19d1b0a7 refactor(companion): dedup age formatting + reply-prefix parsing; drop dead code
Consolidation pass over the message/nearby UI, no functional change beyond
one intentional display tweak:

- Age tags: NearbyScreen::fmtAge, the nearby list's inline column, and
  QuickMsgScreen::fmtMsgAge each reimplemented the same s/m/h bucket ladder
  on top of geo::fmtAgeShort. All now delegate to it (fmtMsgAge removed).
  Visible effect: ages over 24h render as "Nd" instead of capped hours,
  matching the Locator target picker which already used fmtAgeShort.
- Reply prefix: the "@[nick] " parse was duplicated in skipReplyPrefix() and
  FullscreenMsgView::render(). Extracted to one msgReplyBody() helper (body,
  plus optional addressee nick) — one place to handle its edge cases.
- LiveTrack: the expiry predicate was duplicated in expire()/isActive();
  extracted to a private expired() helper.
- Removed a dead M_PI define (and unused <math.h>) in NearbyScreen.h, and a
  comment pointing at a CODE_REVIEW.md that doesn't exist.

57774d41f3 feat(companion): live location sharing, Locator geofencing, trail auto-pause
Squash merge of feat/location-beacon-alerts-autopause (v1.21).

Features:
- Live Location Sharing — broadcast position as movement-gated [LOC]
  messages to a channel or contact; live shares show as map pins with
  distance/bearing in Nearby Nodes and a status-bar indicator. [LOC] is
  parsed in DMs, channel messages and room messages; DM shares name the
  sender.
- Locator (geofence) — arm a geofence around a saved waypoint or a person
  (live [LOC] or last-known position), alert on arrive/leave or near/far,
  with an optional homing beeper (gated to arrive/both modes). Arm from
  Tools > Locator, Nearby Nodes, or Waypoints; target picker lists
  favourites first, clearable via a "None" entry. Active target is drawn
  as a flag on the map.
- One active target shared across Locator / Navigate / Map via a single
  resolver (resolvePersonPos / activeTargetPos) that prefers a live
  [LOC] share over the last-advertised GPS fix.
- Follow live contacts — Navigate to a live-sharing contact follows them
  as they move and adds an ETA line; quick-share your own position from
  the Map.
- Map & status-bar upgrades — home mini-map gets a north marker, scale
  tick, and a connected trail line (was disconnected dots); status line
  shows tracked-node count, an arrow + distance to the active Locator/Nav
  target (falling back to the nearest live-tracked contact); GPS fix icon
  in the top status bar, shown only on GPS boards with GPS enabled.
- Trail auto-pause — recording freezes on stops (banking elapsed time,
  breaking the map line across the idle gap) and resumes on movement
  without ending the session.
- Streaming trail simplification — GPS points are simplified in-stream
  via a fixed-corridor (Reumann-Witkam) pass tuned for fidelity: straight
  runs collapse to their endpoints, curves stay bounded to the Min-dist
  tolerance, so the 512-point buffer covers a far longer route than a
  flat point budget would suggest.
- Collapsible Tools (Location / Comms / System sections, fold-in-place
  like Settings) and page-indicator icons on the home carousel.
- Waypoint coordinate editor — add a waypoint by scroll-editing lat/lon
  digit by digit.

Fixes:
- Critical: low-heap hang and contact loss on RAM-tight builds. Halved
  message-history scrollback rings (recovering ~14 KB free heap) and
  made contacts/channels/prefs persistence atomic (temp file + rename),
  so an interrupted save can no longer corrupt or wipe the store.
- Serial.write() bounded so a stalled USB host can't hang the device.
- Nearby Nodes: live [LOC] senders respect the type filter, sort by
  shared position, and the list refreshes so live shares bubble up.
- Map: live contacts are labelled before waypoints.
- GPS status icon hidden when GPS is off in Settings.
- Splash screen no longer truncates a pre-release tag's own dash (e.g.
  v1.21-rc1) when stripping the build's commit-hash suffix.
- Null-guarded the Locator target picker; clamped loc-share channel
  index on load.

Under the hood:
- -Os size optimisation on the e-ink and GAT562 30S solo envs.

92643d1721 fix(ui): scale trail-map markers for e-ink, add wrap-around nav
Trail map dots/diamonds/cross/start markers and the north indicator were
drawn as raw unscaled pixels, so they shrank to near-invisible specks on
landscape e-ink's larger font scale; they now route through the mini-icon
framework (icons.h) like the rest of the UI, and the grid intersection dots
scale with it too. The keyboard's preview/grid separator had the same bug
(hardcoded 1px) and now uses display.sepH().

Also makes UP/DOWN (and the keyboard's LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DOWN) wrap top<->bottom
across every list, menu and form selector, matching the behavior PopupMenu
already had.

2136e959d4 fix(ui): gap below header separator, one method everywhere
Content drawn under the title separator touched the line on every standard
screen, because listStart() == headerH() (the row right after the separator).
Graphical screens worked around it with a hand-rolled hdr+2.

Bake a 2px breathing gap into listStart() so every list gains it at once, and
switch the screens that hand-rolled the offset (Compass, Nav, Nearby detail) to
listStart() so the content top is computed the same way everywhere.

f591cddf4f refactor(ui): audit-pass fixes + dead-code/redundancy cleanup
Fixes from a full ui-new audit (OLED + e-ink both build green):
- remove dead DisplayDriver::drawScrollArrows (all lists use drawScrollIndicator)
- SettingsScreen selection bar -> lineStep()-1, matching the drawList screens
- HomeScreen: don't force the 1s blink refresh on the CLOCK page (status icons
  are hidden there anyway)
- FullscreenMsgView: clamp KEY_DOWN scroll to a cached _max_scroll instead of
  over-incrementing and leaning on the next render to clamp
- DataStore: clamp use_lemon_font (>1 -> 0) on load, like the other enum fields
- move the ~1.5KB wrap scratch (trans/lines) off the render stack into shared
  file-scope statics in FullscreenMsgView (single-threaded UI; the fullscreen
  view and history list never lay out in the same frame)

Cleanup:
- drop dead members RingtoneEditorScreen::DUR_VALS and HomeScreen::sensors_scroll
- delete redundant manual scroll-clamps in handleInput across the drawList
  screens (drawList already reclamps each render); remove the now-unused _visible
  from QuickMsgScreen/NearbyScreen/BotScreen and BotScreen::scrollToSel()

9da730e3b6 refactor(ui): shared drawList + header + key-decode helpers
- drawList(): scrollable list skeleton (visible window, keep-sel-in-view,
  scroll-column reserve, per-row callback, indicator). Migrate Tools, Bot,
  Nearby, Waypoints list and the three QuickMsg lists onto it; centralises the
  scroll-clamp/reserve/indicator that each had open-coded (and inconsistently).
- drawCenteredHeader(): centred title + separator, replacing the duplicated
  two-liner across ~10 screens (incl. QuickMsg, which used width()/2 spacing and
  was missed before); unifies the separator at headerH()-sepH().
- keyIsPrev()/keyIsNext() in UIScreen.h for the LEFT||PREV / RIGHT||NEXT idiom;
  applied to 6 screens, behaviour-preserving. Cancel/context-menu stay
  per-screen (they mean different things on different screens).
- rotLabel() dedups the 0/90/180/270 array in Settings.
- Unify selection-row height to lineStep()-1 (Tools/Bot matched the rest).

6e4177f3d6 feat(ui): proportional scrollbar with mini-icon caps; reclaim row space
Replace the text ^/v scroll arrows with a font-scaling indicator drawn in
icons.h: a proportional thumb between fixed up/down triangle mini-icon caps.
drawScrollIndicator() lives in a ~5px right-edge column and scales via
miniIconScale (1x OLED, 2x landscape e-ink).

- Mini-icons: ICON_SCROLL_UP/DOWN; miniIconDrawTop (exact placement) and
  miniIconDrawHalo (shape-hugging 1px DARK halo, clip_top to spare the header
  separator) so caps stay visible on the LIGHT selection bar without a box.
- Thumb is 3*s wide so it centres on the triangle column; caps are static end
  markers (always drawn) so neither vanishes at the extremes.
- scrollIndicatorReserve(): right-edge gutter (0 when the list fits). Content,
  the selection bar and the message-history bubbles are all narrowed by it so
  nothing renders under the scrollbar. Portrait e-ink wrap width subtracts the
  reserve in both the box-height pass and render so wrapped text can't spill.
- Drop the redundant ">" selection marker (the highlight bar already shows
  selection) and shift rows to x=2, reclaiming left-edge space.
- Wire the indicator into every scrollable list (Bot, Settings, Nearby, Tools,
  Trail, QuickMsg lists + DM/channel history) and add one to WaypointsView,
  which scrolled with no indicator before.

019f739b8b refactor(ui): reorganize Nearby Nodes (one list, two sources, unified menu)
Replace the many scrollable filter/sort categories and inconsistent popups
with a single list / detail / action-menu path over two sources (stored
contacts and live discover scan). Filter (type) and sort are independent
axes: LEFT/RIGHT cycle the type filter, the action menu's Sort row is
adjusted in-place with LEFT/RIGHT (not Enter). The active filter is shown
in the SCAN title and empty-list messages distinguish "no contacts" from
"filtered out". Filter/sort persist across re-entry.

b8a7b5dcc0 refactor: dedup persistence header, harden action menu, tidy small items
- Persist.h: shared writeHeader()/readHeader() for the magic+version+count
  on-disk header; Waypoint and Trail snapshots now share one implementation
  (byte layout unchanged; each keeps its own count clamp/reject + extra fields).
- TrailScreen: pushAction() guards _act_map / PopupMenu capacity, so adding a
  new action can't silently overrun the fixed array.
- PopupMenu: add count()/setSelected() accessors; replace the remaining direct
  _sel/_count field pokes in NearbyScreen, TrailScreen and QuickMsgScreen.
- Trail summary: unit-suffixed time ("1h 05m" / "5m 03s") so hours can't be
  misread as minutes.
- Trail::haversineMeters delegates to geo::haversineKm — single Haversine
  implementation (also trims a little flash).

151892e1ce refactor(ui): extract shared helpers, dedup screens, GPS shutdown via provider
Pull repeated UI idioms into DisplayDriver and remove duplicated logic:

- DisplayDriver: add drawScrollArrows() and drawInvertedHeader(); replaces 11
  copy-pasted scroll-arrow blocks across 5 screens and 3 inverted title-bar
  blocks (NearbyScreen x2, NavView). Standardises the detail-view separator.
- useImperial(): single source on UITask; NearbyScreen/TrailScreen delegate
  instead of each re-reading NodePrefs.units_imperial.
- NearbyScreen: extract saveSelectedWaypoint() (two identical blocks -> one);
  drop the redundant local label buffer (WaypointStore truncates).
- UITask::shutdown(): power GPS off through LocationProvider::stop() instead of
  poking PIN_GPS_EN directly — centralises enable/reset-pin + active-level logic.

Net -58 lines. Verified: GAT562 (SSD1306) and WioTrackerL1Eink (GxEPD) solo

231b3c0e0d fix(NearbyScreen): sort "?" entries to bottom in TIME filter
Contacts with lastmod=0 or lastmod>now (RTC not synced after reboot but
contacts have timestamps from a prior session) were sorted to the top

  to the correct position; previously the list froze at the order captured
  when the filter was selected.
- All filters: right-align the distance/age value within the right column
  (width - textWidth - 2 px) instead of pinning it to a fixed left edge,
  so short strings like "5s" or "3m" sit flush with the longer ones.

e6f8fb99c7 feat(NearbyScreen): waypoint/navigate from list, TIME filter, addWaypoint helper
NearbyScreen:
- Hold Enter on a list row now shows Navigate and Save waypoint directly,
  without entering the detail view first
- TIME added as the last filter slot (LEFT/RIGHT cycles Fav→ALL→…→Snsr→TIME);
  time-sort shows age in right column and sorts by last-heard descending
- Save waypoint also available from detail view Options menu

UITask:
- Extract addWaypoint() helper (two overloads: with/without explicit timestamp)
  consolidating the full()+add()+saveWaypoints()+alert pattern; TrailScreen
  and QuickMsgScreen updated to use it

Fixes:
- SoundNotifier.h: correct NodePrefs.h include path (../NodePrefs.h)
- kbAddSensorPlaceholders: dereference _kb pointer in SettingsScreen,
  QuickMsgScreen and BotScreen (signature changed to KeyboardWidget&)

c4cea53a40 polish(nav): tidy parseLatLon precision + ping-menu edge cases
- geo::parseLatLon now rounds lat/lon in double (matching the Add-by-coords
  form) instead of through a float cast that lost ~1 m near 1e8.
- NearbyScreen: preserve the ping menu's selected row across a rebuild
  instead of snapping back to "Send" when a result line arrives.
- NearbyScreen: guard the ping-menu input path so a vanished contact
  (selectedStoredPubKey == false) closes the popup rather than acting on an
  uninitialised pub-key buffer.

359b5fccd7 feat(units): global metric/imperial setting for all distance displays
Add a single "Units" choice (Settings › System: Metric / Imperial) that
governs every distance and speed shown in Tools — Nearby Nodes, the Trail
views, and the navigate-to-point screen.

- NodePrefs: units_imperial (global) + trail_show_pace (Trail readout mode),
  schema bumped 0xC0DE0005 → 0006. The old combined trail_units_idx is kept
  for file-layout stability but no longer drives anything; upgraders default
  to metric + speed.
- geo::fmtDist gains an imperial mode (ft below ~1000 ft, then miles).
- NavView / Nearby / Trail (waypoint list, Summary distance, List deltas,
  map scale-bar label) all format through the global preference.
- Trail's action-menu "Units" row becomes a Speed/Pace readout toggle; the
  km-vs-mi unit now follows the global setting instead of being one of four
  combined options.

The static haversineKm/bearingDeg/bearingCardinal/fmtDist members were

55d164c074 refactor(nav): single GPS-position accessor + reset COG window after a gap
UITask::currentLocation() becomes the one place that reads the
LocationProvider fix. TrailScreen::ownPos, CompassScreen::gpsValid and
NearbyScreen::refresh now delegate to it instead of each duplicating the
getLocationProvider/isValid dance (and the ENV_INCLUDE_GPS guard).

pushCogFix now restarts the course-over-ground ring when the gap since the
previous fix exceeds 15 s: after losing GPS for a while, a window spanning
the stale old fixes would compute a bogus "teleport" heading. The
last-good heading is kept for display continuity.

e354b78b46 fix(nav): ping result never appeared after Send
startPingForKey() set the "RTT: ..." line but didn't rebuild the ping
menu, and updatePingMenuState only rebuilt on a string-count change it
computed after the mutation — so the menu stayed at a lone "Send" row and
nothing visibly happened after pressing Send, whether or not a reply came.

- Rebuild the menu right after starting the ping so "RTT: ..." shows at
  once; on send failure show "RTT: send fail" instead of a blank.
- Sync the menu against its actual row count (_ping_menu._count) as result
  lines populate, so RTT/SNR rows appear when the reply lands.

ed984e437b feat(nav): node detail Options menu (Navigate/Ping); ping rows no longer blank
Two fixes from on-device testing:

- Node navigation was bound to a bare Enter in the detail view, which was
  undiscoverable. Hold Enter now opens an Options popup (Navigate / Ping),
  consistent with the rest of the UI. Navigate opens the shared NavView;
  Ping runs the ping and shows its result.

- The ping popup always carried three result rows (RTT / SNR out / SNR
  back) even before a ping, so the user could scroll onto blank rows. The
  menu is now rebuilt to contain only "Send" plus the result lines that are
  actually populated, growing in place as the reply arrives.

e578525a95 fix(nav): drop nav view when target contact disappears; cap label entry
Review fixes:
- NearbyScreen: when the periodic detail refresh can't find the selected
  contact any more, clear _nav as well as _detail so the nav view and the
  input handler don't disagree about state.
- TrailScreen: bound the label keyboard to WAYPOINT_LABEL_LEN-1 (11) chars
  for both Mark-here and Rename, so the user can't type more than the stored
  label holds.

6ca1c766ef feat(nav): navigate to a node from Nearby
Phase 6. In a node's detail view, Enter (when the ping popup is closed)
opens the shared NavView targeting that node's last-known advert position
— same To/Hdg/distance screen used by waypoints. Nodes with no position
report "No node GPS". This turns Nearby from a static snapshot into a
"walk toward this person" view and folds in the old compass-to-contact idea.

Phase 1 of the navigation feature. The geographic helpers were private

e578300eff fix: smaller audit items — strnlen, narrow-display guard, SNR precision
M2: CMD_SET_DEFAULT_FLOOD_SCOPE used strlen() on the frame's 31-byte name
slot, which is not required to be NUL-terminated. Switched to strnlen()
so the search can't run past the field into the 16-byte key.

M4: NearbyScreen::renderDiscoverDetail computed strncpy(b64, ..., max_chars - 3)
where max_chars came from display width. On very narrow displays (width < ~28
at 6 px font) this became negative. Skip the pub-key line entirely when
max_chars < 4 so we don't risk a negative count and a bogus terminator.

L1: SNR was shown as truncated integer dB. Switched the detail view and
the 2-line discover cards to %.1f so they keep the 0.25 dB resolution
(consistent with the ping popup, which already used %.1f).

L4: Two fallback "?" sender placeholders used strncpy(buf, "?", sizeof(buf))
— functional but it memsets 21 unused bytes for a one-character string.
Replaced with strcpy.

M1 marked as not-a-bug after re-check: default_scope_name is char[31],
so the n < 31 guard correctly admits the max 30-char string + NUL.

FEATURES.md audit section updated with current status.

684e2b6439 fix(ui/nearby): lock ping popup highlight and dedupe Ping labels
The Ping popup mixed an action row ("Ping") with three read-only result
rows (RTT, SNR out, SNR back). UP/DOWN scrolled through all four, so the
highlight could land on a result row and ENTER did nothing useful.

- Swallow UP/DOWN while the ping popup is open; selection stays on the
  action row so ENTER always triggers a new ping.
- Rename the action row "Ping" → "Send" and the RTT result prefix
  "Ping: …" → "RTT: …" so the word "Ping" only appears once (in the
  popup title), instead of three times.

db8c52ea9a fix(ui): standardize context menu cycling + PopupMenu height clamping
PopupMenu:
- _cap now uses max_by_height as a hard ceiling (never draw outside screen).
  Previously max(_visible, max_by_height) let callers exceed the screen on
  OLED 64px. Now: OLED→4 items, landscape e-ink→10, portrait e-ink→22.

QuickMsgScreen:
- Contact context menu: Notif and Melody cycle with LEFT/RIGHT in-place;
  ENTER closes without re-cycling.
- Channel context menu: Notif, Melody and Fav same pattern.

RingtoneEditorScreen:
- Migrated from bespoke menu to PopupMenu (same pattern as everywhere else).
- Duration (1/4…1/32) and BPM (60…180) are now single rows that cycle with
  LEFT/RIGHT; separate BPM+/BPM- rows removed.
- Fixed _menu_dur_label buffer too small for "Duration: 1/16" (14→16 bytes).

NearbyScreen:
- Removed redundant "Back" item from context menu (Cancel key navigates back).

TrailScreen:
- Grid toggle responds to LEFT/RIGHT in addition to ENTER.
- Export labels: "Export GPX (live/saved)" → "Export (live/saved)" to fit PM_BW.

d981f93e6e refactor(ui): drawSelectionRow helper for the 5-line invert/restore pattern
Eight screens repeated the same if/else block to invert the row
background for selected items. Add DisplayDriver::drawSelectionRow that
sets LIGHT, optionally fills the rect, and leaves the colour as DARK
when sel (so the caller's text renders inverted). 61 lines removed
across SettingsScreen, KeyboardWidget (cells + special row), ToolsScreen,
DashboardConfigScreen, BotScreen, RingtoneEditorScreen (note slots +
menu), NearbyScreen, QuickMsgScreen (4 list views).

Card-style rows (QuickMsg hist, NearbyScreen discover, RingtoneEditor
notes display) keep their original drawRect/partial-fill outline for
unselected — they don't match the simple-invert pattern.

9c671891d9 fix: e-ink portrait/landscape layout — separators, battery, keyboard, screens
- DisplayDriver: add sepH() (2px landscape, 1px OLED); fix transliterateCodepoint

  battery iconW=lh*2, fill margin bm scales with orientation; indicator spacing fixed;
  clock separator uses sepH(); alert popup tight and vertically centred
- KeyboardWidget: compact cell height (no stretch), multi-line preview, cursor always

  when items don't fit (fixes portrait stretch)

118f29b0a1 fix: landscape e-ink layout corrections — clock overlap, keyboard overflow, bar sizing, nearby detail
- GxEPDDisplay: fontAscender only applies to sz=1 with Lemon; sz=2 (NULL font)
  was incorrectly getting a 16px cursor offset, causing clock text to render
  16px lower than expected and overlap the date line
- KeyboardWidget: compute cell_h from available screen height instead of lh+1;
  tighten sep_y to lh so the grid fits within 122px even with Lemon font (lh=20)
- SettingsScreen renderBar: constrain box size to available width so the 5th
  buzzer-volume square doesn't overflow past the right edge with Lemon font
- NearbyScreen discover detail: manually truncate b64 public key by charWidth
  to guarantee one-line rendering; use dynamic step = (height-hdr)/5 so
  Status line doesn't fall off the bottom of the screen
- NearbyScreen contacts detail: merge dist+az into one line and use dynamic
  step to fit 5 lines within the display; removes the off-screen Seen: row
- AutoAdvertScreen: replace lineStep() gap before hints with 4px fixed gap
  so both hint lines fit within the display with large fonts

6249e63ec0 fix: remove isBLEConnected guard from discover response handling
The !isBLEConnected() check was too restrictive — if BLE happened to be
connected (app in background) the standalone discover would silently drop
all responses. Tag matching already provides correct isolation: responses
matching _pending_node_discover_tag are handled by the standalone UI and
not forwarded to the BLE app; responses with a different tag fall through
to the normal forward path.

Also show short type names (Rpt/Snsr/Room) in the discover results list
instead of generic "known"/"NEW", with a '*' prefix for nodes not yet
in contacts — matching the repeater/sensor distinction the app shows.
